Because the story of people in Utah is over 13,000 years old we will always find archaeology under our feet! From the spearheads from the first peoples on the continent to industrial relics of the past 100 years, just what the archaeology may be can take many different forms. As modern Utah grows into new regions (looking at you, Utah County) and reimagines the uses of others (ahem, Park City) we will continually discover and rediscover portions of our past.
All of us at the Utah SHPO hope that this series has been not only eye-opening for many of you but inspiring for some of you too. As you have built homes, repaired foundations, and overseen commercial and industrial projects, I’m sure you have encountered other stories of archaeology under your feet. If you would like to contribute your story, we would love to hear it and help share it to Utahns. You can use this submission form to contribute your fully-formed story or to suggest a topic that you can help turn into a blog post.
It’s been great having you along on this journey and we hope that these stories of discovery have surprised, inspired, and delighted you!
