Memory Grove Park was established in the 1920s by the women of the Salt Lake chapter of the Service Star Legion to honor Utah’s veterans. This Veterans Day, Preservation Utah invites you to join us in paying tribute to our soldiers in a location rich with historical significance. The event will include various activities to commemorate our veterans, and everyone is welcome to attend.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Flag Retirement Ceremony: Witness a solemn flag retirement ceremony as we honor the American flag and the veterans it represents.
- Color Guard: Experience a patriotic display, adding to the reverence of the event.
- Guided Tours: Explore the park’s numerous monuments and buildings that were constructed to pay homage to Utah soldiers. Preservation Utah’s professional volunteer guides will provide valuable information about the history and significance of these structures.
- Scavenger Hunts for Kids: Keep the young ones engaged with scavenger hunts designed especially for kids.
- Free Event: This event is open to the public, and there is no admission fee. We encourage everyone to join us in honoring our veterans.
Veterans are especially welcome, and we’d like to offer them VIP parking and seating. To avail of this service, we kindly request that veterans RSVP to our director, Brandy Strand, at [email protected].
If you have an American flag that is in need of retirement, you can drop it off at Memorial House (375 N Canyon Road, SLC) by Friday, November 3rd. Drop off Monday through Friday, between 9 am and 5 pm.
Join us on this special day as we come together to remember and honor the brave men and women who have served our country.
