Archaeology Day

The Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum will host “Archeology Day” on Saturday May 6, 2023.

The event is a celebration of the rich archaeological heritage of South East Utah and features demonstrations, hands-on activities, lectures, and guided tours of the ruins.

There will be demonstrations in pottery making, traditional Pueblo weaving, flint knapping, and basketry.

Learn skills of the area’s earliest inhabitants. Try your hand at tossing an atlatl (prehistoric dart thrower).

The event will also feature presentations by Dr. Laurie Webster on her research into Ancestral Pueblo perishables and by researcher and artist, Jim Krehbiel on “The Art of Astronomy”. Krehbiel’s work is currently on exhibit at the museum.

Activities will take place from 10am until 4pm.

Bring your family and friends and plan to stay the day.

Admission is free. Food will be available for purchase.
