Archaeological Tours at Danger Cave State Monument

May 28, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

On May 21, May 27, May 28, June 10 and June 24 you will have the opportunity to tour Danger Cave and Juke Box Cave both of which are within the Danger Cave State Monument which was established in 2019. These sites are two of the most important archaeological sites in the Great Basin and during these tours, you’ll go inside both caves with professional archaeologists from Metcalf Archaeological Consultants who have done research at these sites. Public access to these sites is limited and they can only be visited with the guide from Metcalf Archaeological Consultants. Danger Cave has an archaeological record going back more than 12,000 years and you will be able to view stratified archaeological deposits, view artifacts, learn about how archaeology is done and will come away with a deeper knowledge of the archaeology of the Great Basin.
Some hiking is required. The hike to Danger Cave is relatively easy and short. The hike to Jukebox Cave is short but very steep. By the way, Juke Box Cave has a concrete dance floor used by the Army Air Corps stationed at Wendover Air Basin!
Space is limited and these dates are filling up fast. To make a reservation, send an email to Ron Rood at rrood@metcalfarchaeology.com with DANGER CAVE in the subject line. Once your reservation is made, you will receive confirmation and additional details on the meeting place etc. These sites are located just east of Wendover, Utah.

$20.00 for adults (16 and older). $15.00 for kids 8 – 16. Kids under 8 are free but must be with a parent.
