Cub Creek Petroglyphs Tour

Take a look at this fantastic Archaeology and Historic Preservation Month event and get ready for May 2025.

Every year in Utah, organizations around the state host events to honor Archaeology and Historic Preservation Month. In the run-up to this year’s celebration in May, the Utah SHPO is highlighting great partners and successful events. Here we speak to Gabriella Salazar, archaeologist for the Bureau of Land Management’s Vernal Field Office (BLM VFO), about one of the VFO’s events from May 2024.

Cub Creek Petroglyphs Tour By BLM VFO & National Park Service
Tell us about the event.

Last May, the BLM VFO and National Park Service at Dinosaur National Monument had a large collaborative event for the Cub Creek area petroglyphs. Although I did not participate myself, my understanding is that it was a successful event and the two agencies worked closely to make sure that it went well.

What do you love about events like this?

Collaborative events like this are great because you never know what others can bring to the table. Other archaeologists and the public can bring up things you never thought of!
