The California Trail (aka: Donner-Reed Trail), the Mormon Pioneer Trail, and the Pony Express Route all coincide in Emigration Canyon. Hike with Forest Service Archaeologists along these designated National Historic Trails and learn about the history associated with the trails as you walk in the footsteps of those who tread before.
The hike is relatively short, approximately 1 mile in total. We will begin at the top of Emigration canyon at the Little Mtn. Summit parking area and walk down the trails. We will turn around and walk back up to the parking lot when we reach the Forest Service boundary to the west.
Walk will be slow paced but expect some steep and uneven terrain. Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch and water as we will stop for lunch along the way.
