Earlier this spring, Dinosaur National Monument contacted Utah Cultural Site Stewards that monitor cultural resources within the monument to let them know that the Utah Cultural Site Stewardship Program was nominated for a National Parks Service Volunteerism Award.
UCSS volunteers have officially received the Regional National Parks Service Volunteerism Award for the Team category. The Dinosaur National Monument Archaeologist, Megan Willison & Community Volunteer Ambassador, Juan Pablo Esparza Limon have personally reached out to the monument volunteers, thanking them for their time, effort, and support as cultural site stewards.
“Your time visiting sites, taking repeat site photos, and writing reports is invaluable in helping protect our park’s (and state’s!) cultural sites.”
Megan Willison, Dinosaur National Monument Archaeologist
On August 6th 2024, John Akers, Dinosaur National Monument Superintendent wrote a letter to awarded volunteers, thanking them for their work within the monument. Utah Cultural Site Stewards are truly creating positive change to cultural sites throughout the state, and to be recognized in this way, is not only a huge accomplishment for the monument and the stewards there, but anyone who is involved with the Utah Cultural Site Stewardship Program!
