We hope that everyone has had a fantastic first month of the year. Here’s a review of our social media posts from the last month, as well as the end of December:
First, we returned to the Bears Ears Marathon with a second highlight:
Then, we spent some time thanking our awesome regional coordinators and program partners for a year’s worth of hard work:

Here’s our messages to everyone who supported UCSS in 2024:
“The Utah Cultural Site Stewardship program wouldn’t be possible without the support of hundreds of volunteers, partners, and staff across the state. This fall, the UCSS team and our five regional coordinators met in person as a full group for the first time. We discussed ways to improve the program and better support UCSS’ volunteers, furthered our staff’s training and knowledge, and were lucky enough to grow our knowledge further with a Fremont Indian State Park training from curator Liz Nagengast-Stevens. We also got to find out who’s the best at bowling. The strength of UCSS’ community starts with our staff, so this was an incredible opportunity to continue building that strength.
We’d like to send a huge thank you to our regional coordinators and all our partners across Utah for all they do, and for helping create a great community dedicated to Utah’s history! Here’s to another successful year.”
Next, we visited Fish Springs Cave with new steward Katie (welcome to the program!):
After that, we shared some trivia from the Book Cliffs – keep an eye out for future trivia games on our Stories on Instagram:

Lastly, we highlighted 3 UCSS events:

Although you may have missed seeing us at the Every Kid Outdoors kickoff event, you can still participate with your family. It’s down to the last minute for any teachers to register for the Cultural Heritage Educator Workshop with the Natural History Museum of Utah. Don’t forget to register for the “Journey Through Historical Snowscapes” snowshoe tour with Alta Environmental Center, coming up at the end of next month!
We hope to see you at UCSS events and projects this year. Onto February!
