The Oliver Fuller Gravesite Protection Project

May 6 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Gemini said A horizontal watercolor painting depicts the solitary, reddish-brown headstone of Oliver Fuller nestled among sagebrush in a vast, arid Utah landscape under a soft, clouded sky.

Join the US Wildland Fire Service and the BLM Cedar City Field Office in a meaningful effort to preserve a piece of Utah’s frontier history. In 1854, Oliver Fuller, a cartographer on the fifth Frémont Expedition, perished from exposure and was buried where he fell in the Frémont Wash. To honor his memory and protect this historic site, we are seeking volunteers to help install a protective fence and clear vegetation for a new natural surface trail. By participating, you’ll play a direct role in ensuring this remote gravesite is preserved with the respect and dignity it deserves. Please contact the BLM Cedar City Field Office to sign up and help us safeguard the trail of the American West.

RSVP by May 1. Contact Emily Swett at 435-531-7186 or [email protected]
