Stories and Snacks: The Utah Buffalo Soldiers

May 9 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
A group of Black soldiers in uniform pose outdoors in a field, some sitting, some standing.

In celebration of Utah Archaeology and Preservation Month, Fremont Indian State Park will host “Stories and Snacks: The Utah Buffalo Soldiers.” This event highlights the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers, African American regiments of the U.S. Army who served with distinction across the Western frontier after the Civil War. Often unrecognized in mainstream history, these soldiers played a pivotal role in the development of the American West.

The presentation will focus on the archaeology and preservation efforts currently uncovering their unsung history across the state. Attendees will be the first to view a new temporary exhibit and learn about the future of these preservation efforts.
