The BLM Moab Field Office invites UCSS Site Stewards to participate in a historic preservation and stewardship project for Archaeology and Historic Preservation Month on Saturday, May 30th. Participants will gather at the Moab Field Office at 8:30 AM to complete Bureau of Land Management volunteer forms before traveling together in official four-wheel-drive pickup trucks to the Tusher Tunnel site. The journey involves a forty-five-minute drive over rugged off-road terrain, with vehicles operated by project leaders.
Tasks will include hiking portions of fencing to the site area, constructing buck and rail fence, picking up charcoal and trash, installing new signs, and remediating graffiti from sandstone surfaces. Tasks will be assigned based on comfort level and interest and will have a safety briefing prior to starting.
Anticipated return time to the Moab Field Office will be by 4:00-4:30 at the very latest.
