Howdy folks! Here are the social media updates from Utah’s Public Archaeology program and UCSS from the last couple months. We’re excited to share these updates with you!
We’ve had a busy couple months, so let’s start off by reviewing a few cool events! We reviewed the repairs to the Bullion Beck headframe in partnership with Ivanhoe Electric; explored the history of the Cable Mountain Draw Works at a steward placement; and talked about the cultural resource law training DNR law enforcement received in Nephi. We also highlighted the Buffalo Soldier Heritage Trail booklet.
Next, we promoted Beyond the 50-Year Rule, Utah’s Public Archaeology Podcast, and announced the shifting of positions within the public archaeology program.
We also promoted an episode of the podcast featuring Autumn Gillard with the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah, highlighted some of the volunteer work completed at Alta, and shared a story about Liberty Park’s history from a tour with PBS and KUER.
We also collaborated on many partner projects and outreach efforts. Stewards and staff placed Goshute-language signage on existing BLM signage and completed volunteer service projects at Maple Canyon; Ian and Lexi completed a podcast episode with Chase Pili of DNR Law Enforcement; and Ian was featured on Good Day Utah with our America250 partners, as well as in a video about working with the state by the Division of Human Resource Management.
