Every year in Utah, organizations around the state host events to honor Archaeology and Historic Preservation Month. In the run-up to this year’s celebration in May, the Utah SHPO is highlighting great partners and successful events. Here we speak to Liz Joerger of Preservation Utah about one of their events from May 2024.
City Creek Historic Homes Tour by Preservation Utah
Tell us about your event.
This was a guided tour of homes in the City Creek neighborhood of Salt Lake City.
What did you love about this event?
This tour celebrated the unique history and historic architecture of the neighborhood and gave the residents an opportunity to show off their special place.
Were there any challenges you ran into?
Finding enough homes and volunteers is always a challenge. Preservation Utah overcame it through persistence and time! Through repeatedly asking friends and new supporters alike we were able to gain the help we needed to have a great tour.
